There have been some instances reported where the MindManager installer will continue to launch after installation on Windows Vista and the program will not start.  It's possible the MindManager installer will also launch when Windows Internet Explorer or File explorer is launched.  Below is a workaround that can be used that will solve for this issue.  The solution below requires some modification of the Windows registry so use caution and follow the instructions exactly.  The use of third-party software in this solution is necessary to target specific areas of the registry rather than apply a blanket approach to the entire registry.

This solution essentially ensures that users have proper SYSTEM permissions throughout their HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT section of the registry.  If the steps are followed exactly, MindManager can then be installed properly without any further issues.

Step by step instructions:

1. Download the psexec.zip file below.

2. Download setacl.zip below

3.  Download MM 7 set Permissions.zip.

3. Create a folder in the root of your C: drive called "Fix" i.e. the path should be "C:\Fix".

4. Unzip "SetACL" and place the main EXE file (SetACL.exe) in the "C:\Fix" folder.  An easy way to do this is the open the zip and drag the file to the folder

5. Unzip "Psexec" and place the "psexec.exe" file in the "C:\Fix" folder.

6. Unzip MM 7 set permissions.zip and place both files in the “C:\Fix” folder.
7. Now right-click the "Runme.cmd" file and choose the option named "Run as administrator".
You might be required to enter your password here.

8. Restart MindManager and the issue should be fixed.
