Mindjet Enhances Leadership Team with Expert Developer of Pioneering SaaS Applications
VP Engineering Mike Duensing to Direct Development of Leading Visual Collaboration PlatformSAN FRANCISCO—December 4, 2008 — Mindjet® today announced the appointment of Mike Duensing, an expert builder of large-scale SaaS systems, as Vice President of Engineering. On the heels of the highly anticipated update to the company's flagship product, MindManager®, Duensing joins Mindjet at an important time, as MindManager transforms from a standalone visual mind mapping application to a highly-networked, enterprise-class visual collaboration platform. Duensing will lead Mindjet's development teams, preparing for a seismic shift in the market for collaborative applications like MindManager 8 and MindManager® Web that help individuals save significant amounts of time, conquer information overload, and become more effective.
Duensing brings 24 years of experience building highly effective software and systems development organizations to Mindjet. As a SaaS expert, he has broken new ground in building large-scale, cloud-based computing systems that effectively handle reams of complex data and information in dynamic ways. Duensing joins Mindjet from EMC Corporation, where he served as Vice President of Development Operations for the company's content management and archiving business. While at EMC, he increased product quality and enhanced company efficiencies while constructing engineering teams with hundreds of members working on more than 70 products in 21 distributed development centers.
Duensing led teams that contributed product architecture to scale to billions of objects and hundreds of millions of transactions per day at EMC, and also at Documentum before it was acquired by EMC in 2003. Prior to his tenure at Documentum he was Vice President of Engineering and co-founder of Synteleos, an Internet-based software company where Duensing pioneered the first generally available and most widely used SaaS collaboration and transaction management system for the North American real estate market. Earlier, at Standard & Poor's, he led the way on development of the company's first SaaS products, which were commercial successes in the financial, oil and gas, and real estate markets.
"Mike is a creative, outside-the-box thinker with a proven ability to deliver revolutionary products and act on revolutionary ideas," said Scott Raskin, Mindjet CEO. "He brings the development leadership we need right now to help us build the world's best visual collaboration platform, and We're excited to have him on our team."
MindManager, the world's leading visual mind mapping application, enables people to map their ideas and information visually, starting with a central topic surrounded by subtopics arranged on lines, or "branches." The map is a visual diagram that imitates the creator's thoughts, with the interactive benefits of embedded data, live hyperlinks, collaboration capabilities, and much more. MindManager is available as a standalone desktop application, as well as a Web-based service. A powerful collaboration platform and workspace manager connects to both products, allowing teams of people to chart their ideas and information visually, share documents and files, and conduct web conferences. Millions of successful people use MindManager to manage projects, develop plans, create presentations, and accomplish a limitless number of other tasks.
