Felicity’s Role and Needs
Felicity is a business planner in the risk-management department of a medium-sized software company. She is responsible for performing risk evaluation and business impact analyses to adequately plan for potential financial threats and other disruptive circumstances. She is continually developing and revising business continuity strategies, emergency response policies, and operational business plans to deal with these possible circumstances. Felicity must also conduct risk assessment tests, oversee 5 employees, conduct meetings to cover and deploy risk-management practices, and train company managers on procedures for handling potential disasters. She needs a tool that will help her manage communications with outside risk-assessment agencies and management teams, document and assess priorities and strategies, track data, and translate information into coherent reports for company executives.
Her Major Pain Points
- Executives do not always agree on best practices
- Team is small, making risk-assessment challenging
- Difficulty translating various pieces of data and other info into a single, accessible report
Today’s Problem
If you recall from our posts on Monday and Tuesday, Felicity used MindManager to efficiently guide the company management team and external contractors through the risk analysis process, and then to present emergency response protocols to a team of auditors. Today, Felicity and her team are working on the monthly training sessions they conduct for key managers and employees. She needs a way to create and update her course outline to make sure that it contains all of the latest information. She also needs to determine some interesting, interactive ways to actually conduct the class.
How MindManager Can Help
Felicity has each of her team members create the course module that they are responsible for inside of her top-level course map. By having a central, main map that includes links to additional maps, she is able to give an overview of the entire course structure and dive into the individual class that she will be giving that day. The structure of the map she is using allows her to easily incorporate working material from all over the company, making the information more up-to-date and relevant for the class participants. In addition, she uses the presentation mode with the map, so that she and her students can interact. She solicits feedback from the students during the course of the class, and incorporates that feedback into the map, allowing her to make the class much more engaging and interactive.
